Photo impression

The festival started Wednesday 4 November, with the opening of the exhibition Kika & Bob Visual trip by Fons Schiedon, and the open-air installation Handelingen by Maarten Isaak de Heer. Later that evening the opening ceremony took place in City, with First Squad:The Moment of Truth and the world premiere of Red-end and the Seemingly Symbiotic Society.

Programme sections 2009

Along with competitions and full-length animation films, the Main Programme includes The Cutting Edge, a programme devoted to exciting, new exchanges between film, visual arts, games and internet. Besides the Main Programme there are Retrospectives and Talkshows and presentations.

Selection 2009

The organization was surprised by the generous amount of over 1,300 entries. Gerben Schermer and Erik van Drunen selected the films for the competition for shorts, the competition for commissioned films and the student competition for the Netherlands and Belgium. 

Films for the competition for the Audience Award Dutch Animation have been selected by an independent commission consisting of Willem Bosch (scriptwriter, Association of New Dutch Film and Television Makers - NFTVM), Sarah Lugthart (project manager Brabants Kenniscentrum Kunst en Cultuur), Lee M. Ross (animation producer, Association of Dutch Animation Producers, VNAP).

Illustrator and Manga-artist Yuichi Yokoyama lives and works in Tokyo. His comics frequently appear in the magazine Comic Cue. In 2004 his best know comics Travaux Publics and Combats came out.
